Pelvic Floor Therapy can help to decrease any bodily aches and pains throughout pregnancy and prepare you for birth. During and after pregnancy, your body goes through drastic changes and increased physical demands. We can help with your alignment, posture, improve strength and decrease pain.

Due to the relaxin hormone that allows the ligaments in your pelvis to stretch and your pelvis to widen to prepare for childbirth, you may develop pain or achiness surrounding your pelvis. It may be more likely to happen if you have weakness in your hips and core and/or have had previous pregnancies. The common issues we treat include (but are not limited to):

  • Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) or “lightening crotch”

  • SI (sacroiliac) joint pain

  • Pelvic girdle pain

  • Round ligament pain

  • Diastasis Recti

  • Sciatica

  • Tailbone pain

  • Low back pain

 

Birth prep

Pelvic Floor Therapy can help prepare your body for birth by working on strength, alignment, and posture. As you get closer to delivery, we will teach you labor positions, birth positions, breathing techniques and how to “push”. We will provide you with some education about birth and will also do bodywork to release any tension surrounding your pelvis to prepare to delivery.
